Last Day in Barcelona and Fly to Geneva

 22nd September 2023

It is our last day in Barcelona and we will be sad to go. It is a very relaxing place with great food and wine and very friendly people.

Breakfast is another walk down to the cafe we went to yesterday, for another Spanish breakfast of bread, ham and cheese with a cup of coffee. Everything is very fresh and very tasty.

Our checkout time is not until 12 noon, so we have time to stretch our legs after breakfast before returning to the hotel to check out and store our bags until we need to leave for the airport at 2.30 pm. We had been to shops across the road to see if we could do a bit of last minute shopping, but didn't have any great success.

Strolling through the local neighbourhood

We have time to have lunch before we need to head to the airport and have such wonderful a choice of local restaurants nearby. We finally decide to try yet another one, having been very happy with our previous choices.

Once again we made an excellent choice

As usual, lunch tends to drag on a bit and by the time we got back to the hotel it was time to get a taxi to the airport. It only takes around 30 mins to get there, and after being rejected by the checkin kiosk machines we were quickly assisted at the help desk and were on our way to the departure gates.

The security scanning was a bit over the top, but we survived.

Our flight to Geneva was packed, left on time and arrived 25 minutes early. Sadly it was raining on arrival, but we are staying near the airport at the Nash Airport Hotel and after a short wait a shuttle bus appeared to take us there.

Checkin took about twice as long as anywhere else we have stayed, it is nearing 8 pm, and we are hungry. Fortunately the hotel "restaurant" is still open, so we will eat there (as there are no other options)

The menu is very basic and we are now in Switzerland, so the prices are outrageous.

We are hungry and thirsty, pass up the $60 hamburger and go for something more affordable

This plate of fish and chips cost $40 Aus.

Thank goodness we are only here for one night. Tomorrow morning we collect our rental car and drive around 45 km  to Evian-les-Bains in France. We will spend the next week in this region before flying home via Singapore.
