At Sea on Passage to Amsterdam
8th September 2023
Nothing much to report today. Flat seas, light breeze, almost perfect cruising conditions as we head to the Netherlands.
It is 18 C outside today, and fine. After breakfast we do some laps of the promenade deck to keep our daily steps up. There is a presentation at 11 am on the history of the Netherlands and then it is time for lunch.
I do a few more laps of the deck after lunch and the only sightseeing highlight is a lonely oil rig off our port side.
At 4 pm there is a presentation on our visit to Amsterdam that has a few surprises. Apparently the Dutch Government has now banned cruise ships from docking in Amsterdam, and our new berth is at Ijmuiden, some 45 minutes from the city. This has caused a lot of revisions of shore visit programs, but fortunately we do not seem to be terribly affected as we did not plan to go into the city, but opted for a tour of the countryside.
